Overheard on my show this week on the FBY:
The Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina has re-named one of their roller-coasters after an Eagles song. The "Midnight Rider" coaster, named after the Allman Brothers Band song, is now the "Eagles Life in the Fast Lane" coaster. The Eagles have re-recorded the song, turning it into a one-of-a-kind version exclusively for the new ride. The coaster, which takes two minutes to ride, features a double lift hill with lift heights of 39 feet and 46 feet. It features an on-board, high-fidelity digital audio system to further enhance the ride experience as you are zipped along at over 30-miles per hour while pulling two G-Forces. The Eagles will perform at the Park's Grand opening on June 2nd.
Alice Cooper has signed a record deal with German label Steamhammer/SPV. The shock rocker's upcoming album, tentatively titled Along Came a Spider, is due out this fall on the imprint. He began work on the disc in February with producers Greg Hampton and Danny Saber.
38 Special have beefed up the itinerary for their 2008 Loud & Proud Tour. The Southern rockers now are slated to play nearly 60 dates, stretching from a gig this Friday in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., through an Oct. 23 appearance in Louisville, Ky. That outing has been expanded to 30 stops, kicking off April 11 in Harris, Mich., and ending Aug. 14 in Lewisburg, W.Va.
